UNITY: MuseLab - GenAI Innovation HUB
I led the product design for the Unity MuseLab, a dual-facing ecosystem designed to bridge the gap between experimental AI research and scalable developer integration.
MuseLab: The Innovation Infrastructure
I led the product design for MuseLab, Unity's Central Hub to empower content creators with a suite of cloud based applications and workflows that seamlessly connect between the Unity editor, DCC tools and Unity Cloud. The challenge wasn't just building a tool, but creating an Innovation Hub capable of shipping and testing early GenAI cross-functional experimentation. The goal was to bridge the gap between deep-tech AI research and practical game development.
MuseLab is a dual-facing platform designed to serve two distinct audiences within a single infrastructure:
- The Creator Hub: A high-velocity interface for artists to test GenAI tools like Muse Animate and Digital Human Lite.
- The Developer Hub: A technical command center for developers to manage API keys, model versions, and the integration of AI-generated assets into the Unity Editor.
Design Challenge:
How to create a unified design language for a two-sided ecosystem and a wide range of experimental AI technologies?
Strategy:
A modular UI architecture. This allowed our team to ship new GenAI experiments (like Muse Animate and Digital Humans) into a consistent ecosystem, ensuring that disparate AI models felt like a cohesive toolset for the creator.
Unity MuseLab Two-Sided Ecosystem: Creator & Developer Hubs
1. Creator Hub
A cloud based, collaborative, WYSIWYG workflows to create, review and iterate on content. Users can test a early stage AI Experiments and help shaping the products of tomorrow.
1. Discover Muse Apps:
2. Create and save your sessions on MuseLab:
3. Test your asset/animation in context:
2. DevHub
A platform for rapid deployment and testing of tools. Teams can productize research, conduct user tests and measure early product performance.
1. MuseApp Metrics overview:
2. MuseApp settings:
3. Role Based Access Control:
4. Release Management:

Result: Radical Production Velocity
By treating MuseLab as an infrastructure project rather than a set of individual features, we achieved:
- Accelerated R&D Cycles: The time to productize Research to MVP & User Testing was reduced from months to weeks.
- Consistent Creator UX: Despite the vast difference between generating a texture, animating a character or creating a 2D/3D asset, the creator felt a sense of Platform Familiarity, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for complex AI tools.
- Scalable Integration: Fast and easy workflow for Devs to ship, get users feedback, and iterate MuseApps early.
By architecting a modular infrastructure for Unity MuseLab, we turned a collection of disparate AI experiments into a unified, scalable engine for the future of game development.
